Spring snow

Sloppy, bumpy, occasionally groomed on the main roads. Typical of this time of the year. Still, get into the back country, and there is a lot of little ridden, or untracked stuff.

Riding this weekend? Be prepared for the weather!

Grooming: The Latest Word

The snow is looking really good. Groomed are: all of the local roads; the Ararat/Willow Creek long loop; the Cut Off Road; Upper and Lower Daniels Creek; and 4 Trees. Grizzly Forebay is no longer rideable, as there is about a quarter mile of exposed pavement.

In addition, there is plenty of great powder for people who want it badly enough to look for it.

There is still some great riding left, so come, enjoy it.

Barometer

I see the problem. I should be able to fix it on Tuesday. Boy, when you are away for a couple of days, the Gremlins do play.

Snow, snow, part 2

This is the weekend you need to come to Bucks. We got about 30″ of snow between Monday and Wednesday. It is beautiful, gorgeous, spectacular. Definitely Sugar Plum Fairyland.

The grooming is perfect, while the powder is very rideable. And I think it will stay that way for a few days, as we have some truly cold air on top of us right now.

And be sure to bring a camera. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Finally, remember the Snowdrifters meeting, Saturday, 10 am, at Bucks Lodge.

Snow, snow

Yes, it is. About a foot already, though a little less than I expected. It is heavy, dense stuff. Really packs when you ride it, and I have been doing that every few hours on Mile High Rd, keeping it open. We had the top 20 feet of a tree break off and spear itself into the snow right at the upper intersection of Mile High and Mtn. Ash. Unfortunately, it is leaning toward Mile High, and will fall across the road when the snow melts. There was a lot of wind here yesterday and last night.

Jay has groomed all the local roads today, and will probably do Big Creek tomorrow.

Hold a good thought: the weekend weather looks pretty good.
