Plowing, Part Whatever

Trying to keep the plowing schedule accurate right now is really a major task. Today, the two County plowing groups met on the Big Creek road and opened it. Then they went back to the Highlands for more plowing there.

I ASSUME that tomorrow they will tackle the meadow and the Dam Road. Remembering that they do not work Friday, there is only a 50/50 chance they will have the back road opened by the time they go home on Thursday night.

I think.

Plowing……CORRECTED

Keeping up with what is actually happening sort of depends on who you talked to last. So…., Big Creek is NOT open, but probably will be open Monday. That also sets back the schedule for the Dam Road.

And, still MORE on plowing.

The road crew changed the plans we were first told about. Two crews worked Big Creek from the bottom and top, and it is now open. Monday they will start across the meadow to the Dam Road. That might be a one day job. Two at the most. Then they will finish up by plowing the back road to the Butte County line.

So, what is done now is the main road in from the summit to the fire station, all of Countryman Estates, up to the Highlands, and Big Creek.

More On Plowing

Today, (Tuesday) the County has plowed to the fire station, and is working in Countryman Estates. Next they plan to do the Highlands. Then the Dam Road. After that, they will go down the Oro-Quincy Highway to the Butte County line, which I suspect is dry. Finally, they will turn back and do Big Creek.

By the end of this week you should be able to drive all of the Dam Road, and possibly travel the back road. Certainly it will be open by this time next week.

Say thanks to the county road guys when you see them!!

Plowing. Yes, plowing.

The County plans to start plowing on Monday the 20th. I think it will take them three days to get to the fire station, where they plan to stop for some period of time before going on from there.

Springtime

Yes, you can see snow in the web cam picture. There are a few pavement spots showing on the road from the summit, but overall, it is great spring riding. And, there could be more snow tomorrow, and early next week.  I have a report from some people who rode up Bald Eagle, and found it pretty nice.

Also, remember that even when the road in melts in a lot of places, you can use the Cut Off Road, and then Big Creek to get in.

So, if you gotta ride, there are still plenty of ways to do it.
