A LITTLE SNOW

I’m watching channel 3 freak out over some rain in Sacramento and a little snow in the mountains. I think it is a slow news day…..

Actually we got 5″ and that means the scratchers get a well deserved rest. They have been working overtime for the last week. And likely will again next week. Still, this snow will get groomed in, and every inch counts.

Don’t forget the Poker Run on Saturday, Feb. 12.

STILL THAT “GOOD” WEATHER

So everyone knows we have had no snow for a while. The good news is that grooming is all caught up. The access roads are in the best shape of the winter. If you have scratchers, you can ride early. Otherwise, wait till about 10 am when the snow softens a bit.

And, if the past is any predictor for the future….., in past years the pattern of a very wet December followed by a dry January has produced very wet February’s and March’s. Apparently, PG&E thinks that is what is coming, since they have the lake outlets wide open. I hope that is not a mistake like it was a couple of years ago.

And, don’t forget the Bucks Lake Poker Run on Saturday, February 12. I think just the food and door prizes are worth showing up. And the ride should be outstanding.

See you there.

GOOD WEATHER…., AT LAST

Very nice weather is forecasted for the next 7 to 10 days, and we have earned it. 72″ of snow, and over 10″ of rain during December. Add to that the 4′ of snow that fell over Thanksgiving, and you have 10 feet of snow falling at Bucks already, at 5,000 feet. The Road Department was at the summit Monday and really cleaned it up, with the grader and the blower. Thank you calls to Joe Blackwell at the Road Department would not hurt.  And the grooming continues to make progress now that we finally have a breather.

But, while I will really enjoy a few days without shoveling, let’s hope we at least have a normal winter from here on. Meanwhile, the mountain is sitting here, white, and waiting for you.
