SNOW PLOWING AND ROAD OPENINGS

You can check on this information yourself. Here’s how: www.countyofplumas.com . Then click on Departments G-Z. Then click on Public Works. Then click on Road Closures, and finally, click on Winter Road Closures. Works every time.

The information there is the road is plowed from the summit to the T. Countryman is done, and the crew is opening Big Creek. From there they will do the Highlands, breaking it with a Cat, and then waiting for melt to open it. Then they will do the Dam Road, and finally, open the Oro-Quincy Highway to the county line.

I don’t see how they can be all the way to the dam until just before Memorial Day, but you can always hope……

This is a very tough winter to clean up after. The snow is still deep, with a high moisture content making it virtually several feet of ice. Given that set up, the crew is doing a great job, and it would be good if you could express your thanks to Joe Blackwell at the Road Department.

“…., AND BEARS, OH MY”

Oh, yes, our pets have woken up. The problem is, while they are on their regular spring schedule, the snow melt is not. Their food is eight feet deep. We have had a visit, but the guy just got some old ranch dressing. Jim Rutherford lost a whole weekend worth of food, and Patty and Alexis Dacoe had one of the boys at their kitchen door.

Remember, a couple of years ago, a bear ate a snowmobile seat while getting at the six pack of beer in the glove box. (Yes, he drank all six.)

So, as we go back and begin to get access to our cabins, do a little fail safeing, and don’t leave temptations out. They will get eaten.
