PHONES: AN UPDATE

This will be of interest to only Bucks Lake cabin owners. As the Homeowners Association Board Member assigned to the phone project, I have contacted AT&T Engineering in Chico. There, I talked with Gail Welch, the Engineering Supervisor. To put it mildly, she was very negative toward the whole project. She refused to believe Mike Donald had announced support for the project at our annual meeting, and is demanding a letter of support from the Forest Service before she will authorize any planning action on the project. She also raised a number of other peripheral issues that we agreed to disagree on.

But I am determined to push on.

First, we are dead in the water without some kind of support letter from the Forest Service. I have asked Mike Donald to provide at least enough in a letter to Ms. Welch to convince her she is not being lied to.

Second, if you attended the annual meeting, you will recall that our Supervisor, Lori Simpson, promised a resolution of support from the Board of Supervisors. I have asked for that.

Third, I want to ask the PUC for assistance in dealing with AT&T. Since my home is in Nevada, I am rather in the dark about how to proceed with that. If anyone reading this can offer advice there, you can email me through this website.

Finally, it might do Ms. Welch some good to hear from some real people, besides me, who want phones. So, her business phone is: 530-891-2273. Her business address is: AT&T, 518 W. 4th St. 3rd Floor, Chico, CA 95928.

Please, let’s really get her attention.

ROAD WORK

Persons driving the Back Road will encounter significant road work between Frenchman’s Hill and the Big Creek parking area for the next few weeks. First, I believe they are going to mill off a layer of asphalt. Then they will apply an overlay over the entire distance. There will, no doubt, be delays.

I have no new information about the wash out in Butte County.

And, the camera. Yes it was messed up for several days, and I was beating on it the whole time. I finally made it work, though I’m not sure which of the several things I did worked the magic. However, I am sure it has a female name, as I don’t know what caused it to change, and I don’t know what I did to fix it….., just like in real life…..
