THE DETOUR. THE LATEST

I have had a comment from a person who says the information released by the Forest Service, which I have quoted here, is all wrong. He is citing Butte Co. Road Department.

Since I have not yet driven it, I do not know who to believe.

Best advice, believe only what you see. As always, 70 in the canyon is a safe bet.

THE DETOUR IS CLOSING

From the Forest Service:
The Oro/Quincy Road detour will close June 26, to stay closed until July 21, BETWEEN 5 AM AND 3 PM. The purpose is to allow timber and earth work to improve the road.

FOR JULY 4th HOLIDAY TRAVEL: the road will be open at 3 pm Thursday June 29, and will close again at 5 am on July 6.

Please pass this on…..

ORO-QUINCY HIGHWAY

Here is a first report from a person who has driven the detour around Mountain House. That person reports the road is roughly equivalent to Mile High Road. It is posted CLOSED at both ends. It is definitely not for towing a boat, a trailer, or any kind of an RV……

ORO/QUINCY HIGHWAY (THE BACK ROAD)

As of this afternoon, 5-25-17, the Back Road is now open in Plumas County, though the Road Department reports several areas of narrow roadway, requiring you to be alert.

Word from the Forest Service is that the French Creek detour around Mountain House is functional, though designed primarily for logging trucks, and they are not encouraging tourist or vacationing traffic. But, neither can they keep you off of it. So just be careful when driving it. It is reported to be newly graded gravel in most parts, about 3 miles long.

Big Creek road is also open as of Wednesday afternoon.

SPRING ROAD PLOWING, PART 2

Joe Blackwell has advised the plowing will begin Monday, May 1. The goal is to get to the fire station by Thursday. They will stop there, and will concentrate on repairing the washout at the bridge over Haskins Creek. Right now there is no schedule for plowing beyond the Fire Station.
