AND MORE WINTER….

Starting last Saturday, February 2, Saturday: 6″; Sunday: 19″; Monday: 30″; Tuesday, (assuming it is done for today): 12″. Add it up…. Really not much more to say. And the current forecast for next weekend it for 42″ of total snow fall. Mother Nature has my permission to stop after that…..

WINTER? FINALLY

At the cabin, Saturday snow total: 10″. Sunday snow total: 38″. That is not a typo. I managed to get the Ranger out to the Dam Road on Sunday. Zero visibility, just felt my way. And it seemed, as it often does, that the snow was about 6″ deeper there. On the Dam Road, I drove to the kiosk, and then gave up, as I could not see.

Forecast for the rest of the week is wet. But, the snow level is supposed to be around 6500 feet. Our new snow will soak up a lot of rain before is starts to fall apart. I hope that does not happen…

WINTER ROAD CLOSURES

Notice from the Road Department. The County will NOT be plowing during the storms of the next few days, and winter road closures will go into effect. And they will NOT BE PLOWING TO GET STUCK VEHICLES OUT.

Please share this far and wide…..

BUCKS LAKE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION – IMPORTANT

If you are an Association member, you have likely received an email from our President, Bill Nicholau, today, July 3. It is important that you read it carefully. Then open and read the attached statement from our Treasurer, Renee Russell.

BOTH STATEMENTS ARE FACTUAL AND TRUE.

SNOW? BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR…

We got 40″ at the cabin yesterday, Thursday. We did learn that the new Ranger will handle it, a pleasant surprise. And the power is still on. At least for now….

SNOW? PART 3

I guess no surprise. There is not much left, and that is going fast. People with 4X4 are starting to drive as far as the fire station. (The road is still posted closed to wheeled vehicles). Beyond that is iffy in a lot of spots.

So, lots of black pavement. No snow, even on the shoulders. Then, in spots, deep enough right now to stick a wheeled vehicle. Snowmobiles, no way. Skiis, not much hope there, more like hiking from snow to snow for brief ski’s.

A week from now, we should have a much better picture of just what the conditions will be going forward.

And then there is just the possibility that winter might yet return……..

SNOW ? PART TWO

Yes, we have it now. We expected, and wanted, two feet. We only have about one foot, but it is SOMETHING, and it is still snowing (at 11:30 on the 25th). Looks like an extended dry period beginning Friday, let’s hope for more after that…..

SNOW?

All the snow is gone. This feels a lot like Oregon at 3000 feet. Wet. Green. Maybe a dusting on Wednesday morning. I know Global Warming is supposed to be a Chinese hoax, but don’t tell that to Bucks Lake. We should have 6 – 8 feet of snow right now. If our 15+ inches of rain in November had been our traditional snow, think of where we would be right now……

But, that was 10 years ago, before the Chinese screwed things up……

NEW YEARS AT THE LAKE?

Well, why not? The county has all the main roads plowed, with a few icy spots. You would need 4 wheel drive on the cabin access roads, but no weather is expected until late next week. A rare chance for people who don’t recreate on the snow to be at Bucks for the holiday…..
